Two Georgia restaurant chains are the fastest-growing in America

Georgia’s favorite places for chicken are increasingly becoming the national go-to chicken joints in the country.

Chick-fil-A and Zaxby's have both made Nation Restaurant News' list of the top 10 fastest-growing chains in the U.S. Last month, the trade publication released its Top 100 report, a proprietary ranking of the food service industry's largest restaurant chains and parent companies. Within the top 100, NRN pared-down the list to the chains that have increased sales and number of locations most rapidly in the last year.

Chick-fil-A, which recently received similar industry accolades, ranked No. 5 on the list, with Restaurant News reporting the Hapeville-based chicken chain increasing sales by 16.9 percent in the last year.

Zaxby’s, which is headquartered in Athens, Georgia, ranked No. 8, rising from No. 10 on the list last year. Zaxby’s sales jumped 13.3 percent in the last year, according to NRN.

Standout restaurants in the Top 100 spread across multiple segments, but chicken clucked its way to the top of the 10 fastest-growing chains above all. In addition to Zaxby’s and Chick-fil-A, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers came in at No. 1 and Wingstop took the No. 4 spot.
