Community spotlight: The Reserve at City Park

The homeowner: The Reserve at City Park puts buyers like Derek Dobson near recreational amenities, restaurants and shopping in trendy Buckhead. The new three- and four-story townhomes are just off Peachtree Street, right before Buckhead becomes Midtown. Dobson and his girlfriend, Jana Wolf, can walk out of their townhome and onto trails on the Beltline, a planned 22-mile trail around Atlanta's urban core. "It's pretty awesome," said Dobson, 27, who works for Ernst & Young in downtown Atlanta. "My commute to work is pretty short. I go right out to Peachtree and shoot out Spring Street and I'm at work in seven, 10 minutes." Peachtree Street restaurants such as Mellow Mushroom and El Azteca Mexican Restaurant also are within walking distance. Single-family homes, townhomes and condos on 26th Street near The Reserve create more of a neighborhood feel than communities situated on busy roadways such as Peachtree Street or Buford Highway, Dobson said. After searching for townhomes and condos in Buckhead and Brookhaven, Dobson was relieved to find lower homeowners association fees, which were $170 a month, compared with condos where fees ranged from $300 to $400 a month. Dobson purchased a $318,000 townhome with granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, and 10-foot ceilings. "I thought The Reserve at City Park was the best value in terms of location," he said.
