A three-story brownstone in Smyrna gave Home Depot designer Sarah Fishburne a fresh start in decorating. She incorporated a new color palette, tackling one room at a time. The dining table, chairs and sideboard belonged to Fishburne's grandparents. Sconces in the dining room are from Worlds Away. Fishburne found the mirrors at Ballard's Backroom and repainted them in a silver glaze using Martha Stewart project paint.

Redecorating the master bedroom began with the bedding - a Serena and Lily bedspread from Gramercy Fine Linens & Furnishings in Atlanta. Patterns such as an animal print and a linen drum-shaped lamp shade with an aqua band were incorporated. The finishing touch is an aqua band on the gray ceiling.

Accent tables on the sides and in front of the sofa are from Nadeau.

Fishburne's favorite architectural feature is the 10-foot ceilings, which accommodate 9-foot doors and windows that span 96 inches from the ground and cove molding.

Sarah Fishburne used Lucite bar stools and a Lucite ghost chair to give a more youthful look to the traditional kitchen, which has cherry cabinets and bead board on the island.

Of the items in the living room's inset bookcase, Sarah Fisburne says, "The art was original and I feel you need it for color. The other pieces I bought at different times and then started to layer them in. I moved things around, returned items, moved items from room to room until I was happy with them. I don't think things need to match, if you like them and are drawn to them, it seems to come together. The fish is stained glass I got at an art show, the oyster plate was a present and I always layer cocktail table books."

Fishburne collects coasters from Atlanta landmarks.

Fisburne said she likes a set table. Two placemats are layered for depth and to add pop. She keeps fresh flowers in the mercury vases and the napkins are an ikat print that makes the old table feel fresh.
