Bob and Gale Koven’s Marietta home is filled with items from the past — including a chandelier from a ballroom at the Astor Estate in New York and English antiques. A dramatic renovation enabled the Kovens to take on a completely new look focused on European architecture and give new life to pieces from the past.

The colors painted on the living room walls are intended to put visitors to the home at ease.

Bob is an outdoorsman and a hunter. The Kovens have visited Africa and a pair of Impala heads sit over the fireplace.

Some items were purchased locally, such as the English hall table dating to 1840 in the living room, which came from King Galleries in Roswell.

The Kovens' breakfast room is inspired by the Blantyre Estate in Massachusetts, which had a breakfast room with a custom drape or curtain in each window. The ceiling and walls are black walnut with a carved fleur de lis pattern. The chandelier was purchased at 14th Street Antiques in Atlanta.

The fireplace had been in a plantation home in Alabama and the couple added the French tile.

Inside the home, moldings and register covers are from and inspired by Atlanta's Biltmore Hotel, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
