Home reflects owner's eclectic style

Anitra Jackson turned loose her eclectic style and passion for decoration on a foreclosure she purchased in Fairburn.

"A foyer should always tell a story of what lies beyond those first few steps. My foyer though small, speaks volumes of who I am. The wood carving on the wall is the Chinese symbol for longevity," said Jackson.

"A coastal theme is captured in the family room with soothing blues, greens and taupes reminiscent of sand with a pop of red coral. I wanted to create a laid-back environment," said Jackson.

"This beautiful waved mirror from Cantoni opens up the space by reflecting light and color. The display of artwork on the adjacent wall is from Z-Gallerie and is called 'Coastal Gems,'" said Jackson.

Jackson says, "I used Hidden Sea Glass with an accent of Treasured Jade by Glidden's Fresh Aire paint as the color on the walls to create a bright and airy cooking environment."

"An antique sideboard nestled in the niche topped off with a vinyl wall graphic purchased from byrdiegraphics.com contrasts nicely with an orange resin plate from Z-Gallerie," said Jackson.

"The black oval table is from American Signature Furniture, the White linen chairs are from Marshalls and the wood carved chairs are a steal from Home Goods at $99," stated Jackson.

In the dining room, Jackson says the real gem is the wall color, which is "Treasured Jade" by Glidden's FreshAire.

"This was a dark wood carved antique convex mirror and is a true example of giving something old new life. Purchased at Speer Collectables for $35.00, it sat in the garage for many years waiting for its rightful place. A little primer, a can of white spray paint and a newly cut mirror created this show stopper," Jackson said.

"When describing the color scheme of my bedroom to a friend I used the words 'Champagne with a hint of deep Purple like smeared caviar,'" says Jackson. The custom wall graphic is an homage to the famous phrase Robin Leach used at the end of his show 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous' which was, 'Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams.' "The night stands are from American Signature Furniture topped off by the perfect lamps from West Elm," Jackson stated.

"Small changes that have big impact: The installation of this new vessel sink vanity. The flooring cost $0.39 sq. ft. from Builders Surplus. It's complemented with grass cloth wallpaper from Wallpaper and Stuff, and a bamboo faucet from The Home Depot gives this once dark and drab space a spa-like feel," said Jackson.
