Perhaps it was inevitable. The only thing people still seem to find more creepily lovable than "The Walking Dead" is garden gnomes. So why not figure out a way to combine them?

Enter, "Lawn of the Dead," a nearly 1-foot-tall terracotta gnome with all the familiar trappings (pointy red hat, fist-sized belt buckle) and an unfamiliar "I eat brains" look on its zombie-painted face. Each one retails for $22.99 from Vat19, which says sales skyrocketed by 400 percent within a year in the UK where they first went on sale. Any day now, they'll probably replace those fuzzy-hatted guards outside Buckingham Palace.

Of course, Atlanta is home of "The Walking Dead," meaning our bar for being impressed by zombies is set pretty high. But considering it's already 85 degrees in early April, maybe this is just what we need to combat the summer of the dead lawn here:

The undead lawn.
