Bueller is back!

Thirty years ago, actor Matthew Broderick brought us Ferris Bueller, the character who reminded us that playing hooky every now and again is good for the spirit.

In the film, Bueller and his buddies skip school and take a wild adventure to Chicago landmarks including Wrigley Field and what used to be known as the Sears Tower (it is now called Willis Tower.)

While Bueller/John Hughes fans in Chicago jumped the gun last year -- June 5, 1985 is the day Cameron, Sloane and Ferris decided to skip school and hit the city streets -- this year marks the 30th anniversary of the film's release.

Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies celebrate the event by presenting Ferris Bueller's Day Off on May 15 and May 18, at select theaters nationwide including eight metro-area locations such as Hollywood 24 @ North I-85, Hollywood 15 Cinemas and Sugarloaf Mills 18 .

Of course, the biggest celebration is happening in Chicago, where Ferris Fest runs from May 20 - 22 and includes a re-staging of the “Twist and Shout” parade float trip which Richard Branson also recreated last year for the opening of Virgin Hotel in Chicago.

There are also several Chicago hotels offering Bueller experiences .

And each day through May 16, Groupon is running a daily giveaway for Bueller tickets .
