Days remaining in the session: 12

With the clock ticking towards Monday's Crossover Day deadline, lawmakers won't be getting their usual early start on the weekend.

The House will convene at 9:30 a.m., and the Senate will start at 10 a.m. Each chamber has a long list of bills to plow through. Among them is a Senate bill intended to reign in the frenzy created by last year's legalization of fireworks.  SB 369 would limit the times fireworks could be set off in and near residential areas. The Senate appears ready to start a dog fight with the House over which pooch will be the official state canine, with SB 410 in support of the English Bulldog (Uga). The House has already passed HB 561, which celebrates the humble "adoptable dog."

Most of the bills on the House calendar would make for helpful bedtime reading, but they are important to the lawmakers who support them.  Among the more interesting is HB 654, which would require tattoo parlors to post signs warning that certain tattoos will make a person ineligible for military service.

Here's the complete schedule for Friday.
