DragonCon is done and gone, and so we are a tad late with the news of alleged Russian collusion at the weekend event in downtown Atlanta.

The above photo was passed to us by an unnamed but somewhat reliable source, as potential proof that DragonCon costumery, in at least this case, was coming darned close to real life. Consider the real thing:

Maria Butina, 29, is in a jail cell outside Washington, awaiting trial. Federal prosecutors say that, supported by Russian intelligence, Butina managed to infiltrate the National Rifle Association and other conservative groups in order to advance Moscow’s interests.

The photo above the headline is that of Alexandra Pajak of Sandy Springs, a mental health clinician at a local county jail. “When Butina got arrested I saw the photo of her in the cowboy hat on my newsfeed,” Pajak said. “I was, like, ‘Wow, I look a lot like her. Then DragonCon was coming and I wanted a fourth costume. I have a costume for each day.

Pajak’s family is Polish, by the way, not Russian. “I just had to buy a cowboy hat, boots and a white top. It was timely and fun. Times are rough, but I figured it was okay to have some fun with it,” she said.

Do consider that the real character has the larger gun.
