House Speaker Paul Ryan is planning to visit metro Atlanta this week to tout the GOP’s tax overhaul.

The Wisconsin Republican will tour Home Depot’s Store Support Center near Vinings on Thursday afternoon, observe a product demo and an employee town hall. He’ll also hold a press conference, his office said.

Ryan’s Atlanta visit comes as the GOP looks to sell the economic benefits of last year’s tax bill in the lead-up to the midterm elections.

Home Depot in January announced it was granting many of its employees a one-time bonus of $1,000, citing the tax overhaul.

The Atlanta-based company, which has more than $90 billion in revenue, has about 406,000 employees. About 20,000 of those workers area in metro Atlanta, with roughly half of them staffing the region’s 62 stores.
