Paul Broun's first TV ad: "Liberals fear a genuine conservative"
WASHINGTON - Rep. Paul Broun is out with his first television advertisement in the Georgia U.S. Senate race, in which he declares from the bed of a pickup truck that he's the most conservative candidate in the race.
Broun's evidence: He's the only one being attacked by the Georgia Democratic Party. It's a broadside that serves both their interests in elevating Broun, who's seen as a combustible general election foe for presumed Democratic nominee Michelle Nunn.
Broun has considerably less money than his rivals for a TV campaign. This one is described as a "heavy" one-week buy only on Fox News in the Atlanta and Macon markets. But Broun hopes for it to go further. This is from a fundraising email sent to supporters this morning:
"But Friend, I need your help. I need every voter in Georgia to see this ad, but television ads are extrememly [sic] costly, and in order to keep this ad on the airwaves I need your immediate support.
- $25 will keep this ad running in Savannah
- $50 will pay for this ad to run during the local nightly news
- $100 will allow us to run this ad in Atlanta
- $250 will cover the costs to run this ad during Sean Hannity's Fox News program"
Rep. Phil Gingrey went on air in November with his "repeal or go home" pledge, David Perdue broadcast his "crybabies" attack on the other Republicans in the race and Rep. Jack Kingston has purchased airtime closer to the May 20 primary.
