Federal prosecutors are accusing a Washington, D.C. man of posing as a senior aide to Georgia congressman John Lewis, D-Ga., in order to snag access to pro football tickets and a fancy bar in South Beach.
Court documents filed this week in U.S. district court charge Jarrett Lewis of false personification of a public official "with intent to defraud." The document said Jarrett Lewis pretended to be Rep. Lewis' chief of staff in 2014 and 2015 in order to get field passes to a Washington Redskins game and special privileges at a bar and lounge in Miami.
The alleged schemer was reported to law enforcement by Michael Collins, Rep. Lewis' actual chief of staff, in 2014, when he was tipped off by the Miami bar.
News-4 in Washington, which first reported the story, says Jarrett Lewis faces up to three years in prison and a fine if he's convicted.
A spokeswoman for Lewis didn't immediately return a request for comment.
