The House and Senate convene at 10 a.m. today.
In the House, everything is about the mid-year budget, which is set to pass in record time (last year it passed March 6). This is the measure that pads the current fiscal plan for such things as growth in school enrollment.
There is nothing of note on the Senate calendar. Outside the Capitol at 11:15 a.m., Georgia Right to Life holds its annual protest marking the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and legalized abortion. Gov. Nathan Deal will address the crowd, as he usually does.
So far, anti-abortion activists are concentrating on passage of S.B. 98, which would bar insurance coverage for the procedure in policies approved by the state government -- or through the federal government under the Affordable Care Act. State Sen. Judson Hill, R-Marietta, is the lead sponsor.
News may also come out of a 1:30 p.m. interview the AJC crew has with Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle on his priorities, including foster care privatization.
