Legislative tip sheet: Of ethics and strange bedfellows – weather permitting

The House and Senate are both in at 10 a.m. today – but we’re unsure whether state Sen. Vincent Fort will be part of that chamber’s quorum.

Fort was among those arrested in a Moral Monday protest conducted inside the governor’s office.

Snow and ice permitting, the House is expected to take up SB 297, the ethics/campaign bill that the Senate passed last week. Today’s Senate calendar is relatively empty.

At 10:30 a.m., the odd alliance of tea party types and environmentalists are unveiling recommendations to address Georgia's unsolved infrastructure issues in the wake of the T-SPLOST's failure. The catch phrase for their press conference marks both the wintry day and the strange bedfellows: "Hell isn't freezing over."

The state ethics commission meets at 11:30 a.m.

Also, a House gun bill – promised since late last week -- might materialize today.
