As his campaign prepares to make its first national advertising buy, Donald Trump's campaign has inquired about rates on Atlanta television stations.

A person with knowledge of the inquiry said the Republican presidential nominee has not yet purchased air time but has taken the normal first step: Finding out how much they cost.

CNN and The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that Trump's aides told congressional Republicans that the campaign will air its first advertisements of the campaign in five states: Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania.

Georgia is not on that list, but with polls showing Democrat Hillary Clinton leading or challenging Trump here, inquiring about rates allows Trump to push ads on the air here in a matter of a few hours.

The Trump campaign did not immediately return requests for comment.

The news comes as Trump has also added two employees to his Georgia team: Jennifer Hazelton, a former TV producer, to handle communications, and Billy Kirkland, a veteran of Sen. David Perdue's campaign, to serve as senior strategist.

And that move follows word we brought you yesterday that Clinton was sending Tracey Lewis to Georgia as a senior adviser to coordinate grassroots engagement activities and get out the vote efforts.
