TIME unveiled its 2018 Person of the Year shortlist Monday, recognizing "the person or group of people who most influenced the news and the world — for better or for worse — during the past year."

Last year, TIME honored the "silence breakers," a group of "all races, all income classes, all occupations and virtually all corners of the globe," for breaking their silence against sexual harassment. The 2017 magazine cover featured Ashley Judd, Susan Fowler, Adama Iwu, Isabel Pascual and Taylor Swift.
