It's a terrible day to drive. It's a great day to play in the snow, though. Just ask Barkley, a Cobb County puppy delighting in his first-ever snow day. Check out this adorable video of him making his wintry weather debut!

THE LATEST: Ice and snow cause crashes, force delays and cancelations

SNL mocked Atlanta's snow prep and we totally deserved it

Many metro area school systems are closed today and hundreds of flights have been canceled. Georgia Department of Transportation spokesman Natalie Dale, speaking with Channel 2 and WSB radio reporters this morning, has cautioned that we should not expect the "all clear" today as low temperatures will keep roads treacherous.

WSB meteorologist Kirk Mellish noted that although the sun is shining, it won't offer that much help in the way of melting since the thermometer is stuck in the teens.

An idea of what happens when motorists chance it anyway:

In Marietta, where Barkley the puppy lives, the police department reported more than 15 crashes, including two roll-overs, from about 6 to 8:40 a.m.

Stick with Channel 2 for the latest on weather updates, road conditions and more. And be sure you have the most recent version of the WSB app to make sure you're constantly informed.
