Steve Harvey apologized sincerely and then rode off into the sunset  after Sunday's Miss Universe mixup without further comment. Then his TV show posted an unrelated yet timely clip, in which he says: "I don't know what my stupid old ass was thinking!"

In the clip Harvey is bantering with a guest in his studio audience. The lady has a Christmas quandary and she needs his help. It seems her sister-in-law has the manners of a barnyard animal, dropping food all over the place and double-dipping her chips.

"How much does she weigh? Is she a small woman?" Harvey asks.

The guest said her sister-in-law "is thinner than me" and Harvey drops the subject like it's hot.

"Oooh.. I don't want to get into this," Harvey says, backing up. "I take it all back. I don't know my stupid old ass was thinking in the first place!"

He then pays the lady a compliment any beauty pageant contestant would love to hear: "She may be smaller than you but I bet you she's nowhere as beautiful as you."
