"Love and Hip Hop" star Erica Mena announced her engagement to rapper Bow Wow at this weekend's BET Hip Hop Awards event, held at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.

Here's our interview with Bow Wow on the red carpet:

Asked if the two were an item, Mena responded, "Actually, he's my fiancé," and displayed some hardware, BET reports.

Mena is responding to messages of congratulations on her Twitter feed today. Her beau, the artist formerly known as Lil' Bow Wow and now going by Shad Moss, hasn't commented on his feed.

Mena previously was linked romantically to her "Love and Hip Hop NY" co-star Cyn Santana but not everyone believed they were actually dating. Early this year Sandra Rose posted this blog titled, succinctly and frankly, "Erica Mena and Cyn Santana Discuss Their Fake Lesbian Relationship."

In a video interview with Global Grind posted last week, Mena said she and Santana were for real.

"It was a good love," she said. Interviewer BlogXilla pressed her on that, bringing up comments that suggested the liaison was invented to boost TV ratings: "She hinted that it was kind of fake. It was on the Internet."

Mena was aghast at the suggestion that she faked a relationship.

"I'm not afraid of love," she said. "I think I was too much for her."

She demurred when asked about Bow Wow.

"I'm on a reality show. You guys gotta wait. It's not a confirm or deny. You guys gotta tune in. This is part of my job here."
