Atlanta rapper Lil Jon says Donald Trump once called him an "Uncle Tom" during his time on Trump's show "Celebrity Apprentice."
AJC radio and TV writer Rodney Ho covered Jon's stint on the reality show, noting at the time that Jon "held his own with steadfast tenacity, dollops of creativity and an ability to avoid the mayhem. In this case, he didn't clash with the likes of Dennis Rodman, Omarosa or Gary Busey. Despite his wild and crazy video persona, in reality, he comes across as a smart, no-nonsense businessman."

Jon raised $40,000 for the American Diabetes Association during his 2013 run on the show, in tribute to his mom, who had been diagnosed with diabetes.
You can bet Jon will be casting a ballot this election. In 2014, he posted a photo and message on his social media accounts saying he'd hopped a 6 a.m. flight from Los Angeles on Election Day to come home to vote.
In a Twitter post, Jon indicated Trump might not have known why the term "Uncle Tom" is offensive or even what it meant. He said he spoke to Trump about it and use of the term stopped.
