Sheen has previously not responded to tabloid reports indicating he is HIV positive. Numerous media outlets are now reporting he is expected to reveal his HIV status during the upcoming Today Show interview.

Hollywood publicist Howard Bragman told People magazine he's known about Sheen's condition for months. "The interview could open up a lot of sympathy for him, but he has to be concerned about a fear of litigation from former sexual partners," he told People.

Bragman later told CNN: "I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it's used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone."
