Fergie responds to Star Spangled backlash: "I tried my best"

Fergie knows everyone is talking about her version of the Star Spangled Banner and is aware lots of the commentary is negative. In a statement that's not quite an apology, she acknowledges her strange rendition of the National Anthem didn't sit with people and says she tried.

After Twitter filled with memes panning her performance ahead of the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, Fergie released this statement to the Hollywood Reporter and other media outlets:

"I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best."
