A member of president-elect Donald Trump's transition team says Elton John will play at the inauguration.

"Elton John is going to be doing our concert on the Mall for the inauguration,"  Anthony Scaramucci tells the BBC.

One problem: Scaramucci apparently didn't clear that with the Rocket Man.

Awkward.

Trump had been playing Elton John's music at rallies - without official consent: "Earlier this year a publicist for Elton John made clear that permission for the music to be used at rallies had not been given," the BBC noted.

The performer's official Facebook page hasn't had much in the way of any sort of political commentary. Three days after Trump was elected, John posted his sorrow at learning Leonard Cohen had died, but no mention of the election.
