‘Coming to America’ sequel to hit theaters in 2020

“Coming to America 2” officially has a release date. Paramount Pictures announced the sequel is set to hit theaters Aug. 7, 2020.

Eddie Murphy is expected to reprise his role as Prince Akeem Joffer and Craig Brewer, who helmed “Hustle & Flow”, has signed on as the director.

Kenya Barris, a Clark Atlanta University alum, is also attached to the project. He’s executive producing the film and will help write the script.

The original flick, which grossed nearly $300 million worldwide at the box office, followed Prince Akeem as he traveled to America to find a wife. No details have been released about the plot for the sequel.
