‘Coming to America’ sequel to hit theaters in 2020

Eddie Murphy Welcomes His 10th Child Eddie Murphy and his fiancée, Paige Butcher, welcomed Max Charles Murphy on Nov. 30. Max is the second child for the couple, who also have a 2-year-old daughter together named Izzy Oona Murphy. This is the 10th child for Murphy, who has one son from his relationship with Paulette McNeely, 5 children with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy, one child with Tamara Hood and one child with Mel B. “Coming to America 2” officially has a release date. Paramount Pictures announced the sequel is set to hit theaters Aug. 7, 2020.

Eddie Murphy is expected to reprise his role as Prince Akeem Joffer and Craig Brewer, who helmed “Hustle & Flow”, has signed on as the director.

Kenya Barris, a Clark Atlanta University alum, is also attached to the project. He’s executive producing the film and will help write the script.

The original flick, which grossed nearly $300 million worldwide at the box office, followed Prince Akeem as he traveled to America to find a wife. No details have been released about the plot for the sequel.
