Bestselling author Lauretta Hannon will give a reading of Truman Capote's holiday classic, "A Christmas Memory," at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Marietta Museum of History . Admission is a monetary donation of any amount (if you'd like to write a check, make it out to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee) and proceeds benefit those devastated by the recent Gatlinburg, Tenn. wildfires. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the event will conclude at 3 p.m. Hear a preview audio clip below.

"When my book, 'The Cracker Queen,' was published, there was a big response from readers in Eastern Tennessee," Hannon said in a statement. "I can only imagine what those folks are dealing with now, especially during the Christmas season. I decided that I had to do something. It was really nagging at me."
"A Christmas Memory" is set in 1930s Alabama and is a poignant story of the close bond between the 7-year-old narrator and his beloved cousin. The event is presented in partnership with the Marietta Museum of History. For more information, contact Hannon at hannonlauretta@gmail.com.
