Broadcaster Jenn Hobby reveals her baby has cancer

"For the last two weeks, we’ve been in and out of the emergency room and doctors’ offices chasing the origin of numerous symptoms," the much beloved Hobby (whose married name is Jenn Hobby Rivera) said in an open letter on her Facebook page, where she also posted the above photo. "We knew something wasn’t right with our gregarious 10-month old; we just didn’t have any answers.

"Saturday morning, Reese had an MRI of her pelvic region. The initial scan would reveal a large mass. One hour after our lil angel went back for a routine MRI, the doctor would sit knee to knee with us and tell us Reese has cancer.

"We were immediately admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As we walked on to this highly specialized cancer unit at arguably one of the best pediatric hospitals in the country, we felt comforted by the incredible staff and facility yet terrified by the reality of our circumstances. In an instant, we became part of a new family that shared one common theme – we are the chosen ones to beat cancer."

Hobby worked for years on the Bert Show before moving to country station Kicks 101.5 and then her current home, Star 94. AJC radio/TV reporter Rodney Ho chronicled the move.

Hobby's husband,  Dr. Grant Rivera , is a longtime educator who is now chief of staff for the Cobb County School District. He has also served as principal of South Cobb, Campbell and Westlake high schools and as an  adjunct professor of educational law at the State University of West Georgia.
