"It is hard to say goodbye. On Sunday, July 26, Bobbi Kristina Brown made her transition peacefully. The family thanks everyone for their loving thoughts and prayers," the family announced. "As Bobbi Kristina would say: "The wind is behind me and the sun is in my face.”

She was 22, and was apparently on the cusp of launching a music career when a Jan. 31 medical emergency sent her to the hospital.

The family in June announced the decision to move her to hospice care after months of being hospitalized, saying she was “in God’s hands.”

Her court-appointed representative has sued her one-time companion Nick Gordon, alleging physical violence and financial impropriety.

Tension among her family members have continued to swirl as she has remained in hospice care. At one point someone apparently took a photo of the incapacitated young woman and tried shopping it to celebrity media outlets, spurring outrage among her relatives.

The family has had little to say publicly in recent weeks. Her father, Bobby Brown, performed a July 4 concert in Atlanta. He apologized for forgetting lyrics and alluded to the ordeal but didn’t mention his daughter specifically.

One of her final Twitter posts, loaded with smiley face and musical instrument emoticons, hinted at a recording project in the works: "Let's start this career up and moving OUT to TO YOU ALLLL quick shall we !?!???"

The Roswell Police Department responded when Bobbi Kristina was discovered unresponsive. Authorities have released very little information about the case other than to say it was being investigated as a criminal matter that "may or may not result in criminal charges being brought against individuals," the department's spokeswoman,Officer Lisa Holland, said in February, early in the investigation "This remains an active investigation and the Roswell Police has no further statement or information to release at this time."

The department has not responded to an AJC query regarding possible charges.

Recent legal action gives some hints into the investigation.

The lawsuit, filed in Fulton County Superior Court, claims that Gordon harmed Bobbi Kristina physically, wrested control over her finances and has taken money from her during the time she has been hospitalized.

The suit claims that Bobbi Kristina was set to discuss concerns about Gordon with a confidant on Jan. 31 but never made it to the meeting:

“Just prior to Jan. 31, Brown had confided to someone that Defendant was not the man she thought he was and set up a time on Jan. 31 to meet with this person to further discuss this revelation. Brown, however, never made it to the meeting. Instead, on the morning of Jan. 31, Brown became embroiled in a loud argument with Defendant at her townhome. The loud argument ended and Brown was later found unresponsive and unconscious, face down in a bathtub, with her mouth swollen and another tooth knocked out.”

“As a direct and proximate result of Defendant’s conduct, Brown has suffered life threatening bodily harm and damages.”

Gordon’s attorney declined to comment.
