Atlanta's celebrity chefs and caterers and the stars they serve

Atlanta dining writer  Meridith Ford has posted an excellent piece, complete with some delectable recipes, about the echelon of caterers to whom the famous turn for fabulous fetes

Topping the list is Tony Conway, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey's go-to for exquisite functions such as Perry's 45th birthday party, where Stevie Wonder performed.

Conway handled the Los Angeles christening of Perry's son Aman in 2015. Perry posted these photos of the special day. The church structure was created especially for the event.

Winfrey posted a wonderful photo of herself and Cicely Tyson at Aman's christening:

Speaking of Winfrey, her key culinary connection in Atlanta is Art Smith. Her former personal chef, Smith's empire includes Southern Art at the InterContinental hotel in Buckhead. That's where Oprah, direcor Ava DuVernay, actor David Oyelowo and others connected with the film "Selma" celebrated its wrap in June 2014.

"We had a wonderful time hosting Oprah and the cast and crew of her upcoming film 'Selma' at Southern Art and Bourbon Bar," the hotel posted with this photo. "Pictured here are Oprah, Chef Art Smith and InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta Executive Chef Didier Lailheugue."

In July 2014, Winfrey and Smith collaborated on the meal to be served after poet Maya Angelou's memorial service, where those celebrating her life included former President Bill Clinton and First Lady Michelle Obama. Smith and four members of Southern Art’s culinary team prepared buttermilk fried chicken with whipped potatoes, garlic green beans and red pepper gravy, Coca-Cola glazed ham, collard greens, mac and cheese and succotash, with coconut cake for dessert.

"The menu was selected, as always, by Ms. Winfrey," Smith told us at the time

Smith isn't the only chef in town when Oprah visits. She live-tweeted her show "Belief" from Kevin Rathbun's bar. Local resident Jared Sapp happened to be there that night and experienced this magical moment:

And when singer Elton John is in town, he enjoys Umi Sushi, where he posed for some great photos:
