Oscars host Chris Rock got plenty of praise for his monologue but Atlanta activist Shaun King penned a blistering critique.

"Whether he meant to or not, Chris Rock's monologue gave the distinct impression that black people were either petty for being frustrated with The Academy or that we live in a time without injustice, and, therefore, have too much free time on our hands," King wrote in the New York Daily News.
He took particular exception to the segment of Rock's monologue that managed to work in a mention of one of the most hideous crimes imaginable - lynchings - amid a comic line.
