Adam Sandler's controversial "Ridiculous 6" debuts on Netflix

Adam Sandler's comedy "Ridiculous 6," which sparked controversy well ahead of its launch date over its portrayal of Native Americans, is now streaming on Netflix.

Native actor Loren Anthony walked off the set early in production.

"My dignity is NOT FOR SALE!" he posted on his social media platforms in April, using the term #WalkOffNetflix.

Bruce Klinekole, an Apache who was to be the movie's Native American cultural consultant, parted ways after he " objected to the Netflix production's repeated gross misrepresentations of Apache culture, dangerous bow-and-arrow scenes involving inexperienced actors, and being denied the chance to even speak to Adam Sandler," according to an interview with Indian Country Today Media Network.

"I couldn't say anything on behalf of my Native people or on behalf of my Apache people who were depicted so badly,” he said.

Not everyone agreed.

“Adam Sandler is a comedian,” actor Dyron Thompson, of Navajo-Cree origin, said in an interview with the Santa Fe New Mexican. "He pokes fun at different people and cultures for a laugh. This is not a movie to be taken seriously.”

Perhaps everyone can agree on that last point. The trailer does indeed suggest that the movie lives up to its "ridiculous" billing. Here it is:
