Free gift cards and a block party featuring food and drink samples are on tap for next month's opening of Whole Foods Market in Chamblee.

The new location, set to open Friday, Aug. 18 at 5001 Peachtree Blvd., will be the ninth in metro Atlanta.

The first 500 shoppers in line on opening day will receive free gift cards ranging from $5 to $50, with one $500 card, and will feature product demonstrations and samples.

The store will also host a block party from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 offering live music, activities for kids and more than 20 food vendors including Revelator Coffee, Doux South and Wellshire Farms. Tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds will be donated to Hands on Atlanta.

When it opens, the store will feature a Revelator Coffee Company coffee bar serving coffee, wine and beer; macarons from Alon's Bakery; a variety of savory biscuits; rotating rotisserie selections including lamb, pork ribs, whole vegetables, salmon and duck; and several flavors of fried chicken ranging from Nashville hot chicken to Korean.
