INGREDIENTS:
Coca Cola Glaze
- 3 cans Coca Cola
- 4 tablespoons ketchup, Heinz
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoons granulated garlic
Burger
- Pinch salt, Kosher
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 ounce Iceberg lettuce, washed and shaved
- 1 each red onion ring, shaved
- 4 ounces braised short rib (or pot roast) pieces, leftover
- 2 burger patties, approximately 4 oz.
- 2 slices of cheese (your choice)
- 2 Fried green tomato slice (1/2")
- 2 burger buns of your choice
PREPARATION
1. For the Coca Cola glaze, reduce Coca Cola in sauce pot by ¾ then add ketchup, brown sugar and granulated garlic. Remove glaze from heat and add short rib pieces and reserve.
2. Start by cutting bread of choice in half through center creating a top and bottom. Preheat grill and when ready, place the burger bun with the inside surfaces facing down, grill the bun adding grill marks then remove the bun from the grill. Be careful not to burn the bun. Once bun is grilled remove from heat and transfer to cutting board to start assembly of the burger.
3. Place the burger patty, seasoned with the salt and pepper on the grill next and heat throughout approximately 5 to 7 minutes or until desired temperature is achieved (make sure to flip the burger to cook evenly on both sides). Then, place the cheese on the burger patty until melted. Remove burger from grill and let rest while assembly of the burger is being done.
4. Start by smearing some of the Coca Cola glaze on both the top and bottom of the grilled burger bun. Then add the iceberg lettuce and red onion to the bottom half of the bun, top with the fried green tomato. Place the cooked burger patty on top of the other ingredients on the bottom bun, top with glazed short rib pieces. Once the ingredients have been assembled, top the burger with the top half of the grilled burger bun.
5. Skewer the burger with bamboo skewers or toothpicks to keep ingredients from squeezing or falling out of the burger while being cut. Cut burger in half and transfer to a plate to be served with some waffle fries or tater tots (to dip in the juices that dip out). Serve immediately.
Serves 1 to 2.
