S&S Cafeteria manager James Burley has worked at the restaurant for 25 years. "I've enjoyed it. The customers, the employees - they are family," Burley said. Sept. 30 was the restaurant's last day of service.

Williams and Morton were high school classmates who graduated from Benjamin E. Mays High School in 1986. Both have fond memories of eating at S&S Cafeteria since their childhood.

A steady stream of patrons dined at S&S Cafeteria for lunch on Sept. 29, 2018, a day before the restaurant closed for good. S&S Cafeteria opened its location at 2002 Campbellton Road in southwest Atlanta in 1968. Six other S&S locations remain in operation. These include one in Augusta, two in Macon and units in Greenville and Charleston, South Carolina and Knoxville, Tennessee.

The last Atlanta location of S&S Cafeteria closed its doors Sunday, and longtime customers and employees were on hand to bid the restaurant at 2002 Campbellton Road goodbye after 50 years.
