Max’s Coal Over Pizzeria is slated to close next week at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody after just shy of two years.

The Legacy Ventures restaurant will shutter at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24. The location opened in January 2018.

The original downtown Atlanta Max’s will remain open.

Legacy, which also owns Atlanta spots STATS Brewpub , Game-X, Twin Smokers BBQ, Glenn's Kitchen, SkyLounge at the Glenn Hotel, Der Biergarten, Ventanas, City View Room, Legacy Catering and Events and Legacy Test Kitchen, released a statement regarding the closure:

We are thankful for the last two years of business in the Dunwoody area and encourage our guests to visit our Downtown location at 300 Marietta Street for our renowned coal-oven pizzas.

All staff have all been provided positions at our other restaurant locations, to ensure no one is without a job during the holiday season.

Max’s served New York-style pizza and had a 200-person dining room plus a private dining area and a full-service bar.

The restaurant is the second pizza concept to close in the same space in the past few years; Max's took over the space from Varasano's Pizzeria, which closed in 2016 after less than a year.
