Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams , which operates three scoop shops around Atlanta, was closed for a month earlier this spring, recalling all of its products after a random sample of ice cream turned up the Listeria bacteria.
But the company reopened all scoop shops in Ohio, Nashville, Chicago, Atlanta, Charleston and Los Angeles over the Memorial Day weekend.
Now comes word that Listeria has turned up, again, in Jeni's Columbus, Ohio plant. And all shops are closed, again.
“We stopped production earlier this week and have been investigating where and how it may have re-entered the facility,” CEO John Lowe said. “We have a theory and are testing that theory. We don’t yet have a timeline for the resumption of production.”
