Let us be frank -- there’s a new hot dog joint open as of today in Marietta

Fox Dogs is located in the former Angel’s Burritos space at 154 Roswell St. on the Marietta Square.

The venture comes from Zach Fox, who has been operating out of a hot dog cart since 2010 and also works as a realtor.

The original inspiration for Fox Dogs was a conversation Fox had with his grandfather, "Poppy" about his experience earning extra money as a teen at a hot dog stand in New Jersey. The same week, Fox, working at a small accounting firm and about to start college at Kennesaw State University, bought a hot dog cart off Craigslist and did a gig across from Sprayberry High School.

Fox found his brick-and-mortar location in January 2019 and started renovations in April.

The space was redesigned to maximize seating (about 20 seats inside and eight outside) and to convey a “fresh, clean and hip vibe,” Fox said.

The eatery’s business model is “a simple take on the classic hot dog,” according to Fox. The menu features  traditional topping offerings, as well as more unconventional topping options, including Fox’s family’s Greek chili sauce, red onion sauce and tortilla strips.

Guests can build their own hot dog or pick one of Fox Dogs’ specialty dogs, with options including the Southern Slaw Dog made with chow chow, cole slaw, chili, cheese and mustard and the Loaded Potato Dog with bacon, cheese, french fries and sour cream.

In addition to the regular menu, Fox Dogs will also feature specials of the week and specials of the day, and will add new regular offerings often. Veggie dogs can be substituted for regular hot dogs for an extra $1.

Not a hot dog fan? The menu also offer Italian beef sandwiches and sides including fries, onion rings and corn nuggets, battered and fried balls of sweet creamed corn.

Fox will continue the hot dog cart side of the business and plans to introduce more options for catering in the future.

Fox Dogs will be open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
