Devotees of Bone Lick BBQ  now have another option for finger-lickin' barbecue. Pitmaster and chef Mike LaSage has quietly opened a second location for his barbecue joint. The newest Bone Lick locale is at 327 Edgewood Ave., in the former Vesuvius Pizzeria space in the Old Fourth Ward.

While the newest Bone Lick has the same thrift-store chic appeal of its three-year-old Westside sister restaurant, the Edgewood space has a distinct look. The 1,800-square-foot shotgun-style spot features an open kitchen, retro booths, a wraparound bar fashioned (by the rock-and-roll musician chef himself) from repurposed wood and a wall sporting a hand-painted American flag whose stars have been replaced by pig skulls and crossbones. Like the original Bone Lick BBQ, this one also offers arcade games.

The food menu at the Edgewood location is the same as at Westside. On the beverage side, imbibers can expect signature Bushwacker and Bushwacker on Crack cocktails along with a lineup of local craft beer, daily drink specials and more from the full-service bar. Like Pizzeria Vesuvius before it, Bone Lick BBQ will serve as the entrance to adjoining Edgewood Speakeasy.

Now through the end of the year, the new Bone Lick BBQ will operate with “soft opening” hours, unlocking doors Tuesday through Sunday at 6 p.m. and remaining open until late night.

New Year’s Eve revelers can hit up Bone Lick BBQ Edgewood for a celebration that also includes Edgewood Speakeasy and The Music Room. A $45 cover nets a four-hour open bar, late-night breakfast buffet by Bone Lick and DJs throughout each venue.
