Sherlock's Wine Merchant is set to open a location in South Buckhead. The 30-year-old Atlanta wine purveyor will open its newest shop at 1831 Peachtree Road, just south of Collier Road, on April 25. Grand opening events are scheduled for the week of May 2.
Besides stocking fine Bordeaux and collectible domestic and imported wines, the new store will also carry value-oriented wines, special occasion vino, gifts and other wine-related gadgets and gizmos. As with its four other locations – the “little store” on Northside Parkway in Buckhead, Town Center, Decatur and East Cobb – the staff at the new shop will curate the wine selection around the preferences of the community.
"We feel a neighborhood wine purveyor is a great fit for this community,” said owner Doug Bryant regarding the decision to move the Sherlock’s Wine Merchant spot from 4062 Peachtree Road in Brookhaven to the South Buckhead location. "This neighborhood has always been a vibrant part of Atlanta's landscape, but lately it's become a lot more walkable, a lot more family-focused, and upscale with businesses and restaurants catering to this youthful, outgoing population. We are here to be part of that growth and success.”
The new space, designed by Atlanta architect J. Ryan Duffey, features sleek, modern finishes with warm wood, glass and natural light. "The basic idea was to bring a more local and vintage feel to this location with a classic and industrial Atlanta look, through the use of exposed brick, steel and glass," Duffey said.
Oenophiles who patronize the newest Sherlock's can expect complimentary weekly wine tastings as well as dedicated, free parking behind the store.
