Nov 23, 2015Update: The Bishop is no longer serving as of Nov. 24.
Downtown Avondale Estates is losing a tenant. The Bishop, the restaurant that has occupied the space in Tudor Village since May 2014 , is closing its doors at the end of this month.
"Avondale is charming," owner Luellen Marshall told the AJC,
"but there aren’t many people coming here. I thought there’d be more development by now. I’m sure it will develop, but I was too early, and we simply aren’t getting the volume."
The restaurant, which features a mix of small plates, salads, sandwiches and entrees on its menu, is the second business on North Avondale Road to recently announce it’s closing. Ray’s Indian Originals, operating since 1948 and on North Avondale since 1956, is closing Dec. 30.
The AJC gave The Bishop two stars when it was reviewed in 2014 , saying, "neither your meal nor the service are entirely polished, but you appreciate the hospitality and leave happy and satisfied just the same."
