Viral TikTok show ‘UpDating’ now casting for live Atlanta show

If you’re single and ready to mingle, you’ll have your chance on Feb. 2 when “UpDating” comes to Terminal West!

The live dating experience is the brainchild of Harrison Forman and Brandon Berman. “At its core, ‘UpDating’ is a live dating reality show, setting up singles, blindfolded, as crazy as that sounds, in front of a packed audience,” Forman, the creator and producer of “UpDating,” told Access Atlanta. “I launched this show with a friend of mine who’s a stand-up comedian, a hilarious guy, Brandon Berman. He jokes and roasts the daters throughout the show.”

How exactly did such a wild dating concept come to be? Forman said it all started four years ago with his own experiences. “I had started a live-streaming dating show with permission, going on dates and recording updates in the bathroom during a date. It would be like, “Hey guys, I’m on a date; she ordered a vodka tonic; how do we feel about that? Please let me know if you think she and I should go on another date.’”

The “UpDating” live show is not just about those who sign up to be on stage; crowd participation is also a part of the experience. “It’s interactive; we’re taking audience messages throughout the show… so if you’re in the crowd and you’re watching this date on stage, you can actually message us if you want to come to the stage and steal the date,” Forman said.

As you can imagine, a live dating show can come with lots of ups and downs for contestants. “We’ve had so many crazy things happen! We had a couple that was legitimately perfect for each other, blindfolds came off and sadly, the guy was like one inch too short for his date, and she backed out,” Forman said. On the flip side, many couples make it to the second date, and for one couple, even further. “We have one couple that’s still together… they’re actually in Philadelphia and they’ve been dating for over a year,” Forman said. “They already told us we’ll be at the wedding.”
