Golden Globes 2023 Winners: Georgia-filmed shows and movies

With so many productions being filmed across Georgia, it’s no surprise that several shows shot in the peach state took home awards during the Golden Globes.
The award show made its triumphant TV return on Tuesday, Jan. 10, with comedian and actor Jerrod Carmichael as the host. Shows like “Abbott Elementary,” “House of the Dragon” and “The White Lotus” were among the big TV winners. “Abbott Elementary” became the first network show to win the Golden Globe for best comedy series since Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” in 2014.
Let’s get into all the love our Georgia productions were getting at the Golden Globes! Angela Bassett took home the award for “Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture” for her role in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The movie was shot in large part in Atlanta. During her speech, Bassett talked about the production’s cast and crew mourning the loss of Chadwick Boseman but pulling together to continue his legacy.
Julia Garner won “Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series” for her role as Ruth in the metro Atlanta-filmed series “Ozark.” Garner’s co-star, Laura Linney, was nominated for “Best Actress in a Drama Series.”
There were also several other shows and movies filmed right here in Georgia that were nominated for the prestigious award. Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy both received acting nominations in the comedy or musical category for their respective roles in the movie “The Menu.” Colin Firth was nominated for “Best Actor in Limited Series” for his role in the mini-series “The Staircase,” while “Atlanta” creator and star Donald Glover was nominated for “Best Actor in a Comedy Series.”
While the nominees and winners are arguably the most important part of the night, another part worth noting is all the looks from the red carpet! Check out some of the looks below and see the full list of winners and nominees here!
