Migos tragedy: Atlanta’s Takeoff killed in Houston

Atlanta woke up to the shocking news Tuesday morning that Takeoff, one third of local super group Migos, had been shot and killed overnight in Houston.
According to Variety, “the rapper was shot and killed at a bowling alley in downtown Houston where he and Quavo, his uncle and Migos bandmate, were playing dice at around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers told KPRC Houston that a crowd of approximately 40 or 50 people was at the scene when the shooting took place and there was a man with a gunshot wound to the head or neck. Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene, while Quavo was unharmed. Two other people were shot and taken to the hospital.”
Takeoff, whose real name is Kirsnik Khari Ball, rose to stardom with Quavo and Offset, originally named the Polo Club. The trio later changed their name to Migos and had their breakout hit, “Versace,” which helped push them to stardom in 2013 and landed a remix from Drake.
Migos only grew bigger and more successful from there, becoming one of the most successful hip-hop acts and rap groups of all time, as evidenced by their 20 RIAA-certified platinum and gold singles and albums, including their Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Bad and Boujee.”
Many are taking this time to remember Takeoff and all he has given to the hip-hop community and more. Let’s take a look back at some of his most memorable moments and keep his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
