Snoop Dogg’s comedy ‘The Underdoggs’ adds Tika Sumpter, George Lopez, Mike Epps and Andrew Schulz to lineup

The cast has added a few more stars to their lineup.
Tika Sumpter, George Lopez, Mike Epps and Andrew Schulz have been added to Snoop Dogg’s MGM sports comedy, “The Underdoggs.” The star lineup will be added to the production that tells the story of Snoop Dogg’s character, Jaycen Jenning aka “2J’s.” 2J’s is a former NFL superstar who, after a run-in with the law, agrees to coach a youth football team in order to stay out of prison and in the hopes of relaunching his underdeveloped career.
The additions to the production all bring impressive resumes.
Sumpter
Sumpter was most recently seen reprising her role in the hit sequel “Sonic The Hedgehog 2″ which grossed $402 million. The actress was also on the small screen, starring in the comedy series “Mixed-ish.” She also starred opposite Robert Redford in “The Old Man And The Gun” and received praise for her role as a young Michelle Obama in the feature film “Southside With You,” which she co-produced with John Legend.
Lopez
Lopez is currently shooting his upcoming comedy series “Lopez vs Lopez,” featuring his real-life daughter Mayan Lopez, in addition to performing stand-up in arenas across the country on his “OMG Hi! Comedy Tour.” Next year, Lopez will join the DC Extended Universe in the upcoming superhero film “Blue Beetle.”
Epps
You can catch Epps in the current season of the Netflix comedy “The UpShaws” which he stars in and produces. You can also catch him in “The Come Up” by director Sanaa Lathan on Paramount+ and the recently wrapped Sony / Marvel film “Madame Web.” Epps’ list of credits also includes the Emmy-winning biopic “Bessie,” the series “Survivor’s Remorse,” which he won an NAACP Image award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, “Jumping the Broom,” which he was awarded an NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor, the movie “Sparkle” opposite Whitney Houston, and the Nina Simone biopic, “Nina,” in which he played the legendary Richard Pryor.
Schulz
Schulz has been busy as well—he’ll soon be seen in two additional films—a comedy starring Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy, directed by Kenya Barris, as well as the upcoming remake of “White Men Can’t Jump,” starring Jack Harlow. Audiences also may know Schulz from his four-part special “Schulz Saves America,” or from starring in the series “Benders,” “Sneaky Pete” and “Crashing.”
The film also stars a host of kid actors including Jonigan Booth, Adan James Carrillo, Kylah Davila, Caleb Dixon, Alexander Michael Gordon and Shamori Washington.
Production is currently underway for the movie in Atlanta, set to release on Oct. 20, 2023.
