On the heels of hosting the Emmy Awards, Thompson is returning as the host of the People’s Choice Awards for the second year in a row. “I’m beyond excited to host the People’s Choice Awards again this year and celebrate the incredible talent and fans that this show unites,” Thompson said. “I’m so grateful to be nominated — shoutout to the fans and congrats to all the nominees. Get ready for round two!” Thompson also scored himself a nomination for The Comedy TV Star of 2022 for his work on “Saturday Night Live.” The comedian currently holds the record for the longest-running cast member, as he’s currently in his 20th season on SNL. The Atlanta native shared his excitement for his nomination and hosting opportunity via Instagram.
Now let’s talk nominations! “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jurassic World Dominion” were both nominated in the Movie of 2022 category, while “Abbott Elementary” and “Young Sheldon” both scored nominations in the Comedy Show of 2022 category. When it comes to the music side of things, Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Lizzo all racked up a nomination in the Female Artist of 2022 category, while Bad Bunny, Drake and Luke Combs did the same in the Male Artist of 2022 category. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” “The Kardashians” and “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” will all be duking it out among other reality shows to see who will take home the Reality Show of 2022 category.
