Meet Braves mascot Blooper, win prizes at Academy Sports store opening

Academy Sports + Outdoors is going all out for the community this weekend with free events at its newest Perimeter location. During its three-day grand opening, there will be appearances by professional athletes, free food, gift card giveaways, t-shirts, games, limited-time deals and more.

The festivities will continue throughout Saturday and Sunday after Friday’s kickoff, which was a shopping spree for 20 local children with Grady Jarrett and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Check out the full schedule below:

Saturday, Aug. 27

Atlanta Braves Heavy Hitters Drum Line and Blooper

• Time: 7:30 a.m.
• What: Customers will be able to meet Braves mascot Blooper and watch a performance by the Braves Heavy Hitters Drum Line beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Line–Up and Win!

• Time: 8 a.m.
• What: The first 150 customers (18 and older) in line will receive a mystery gift card valued between $10 and $500.

Vendor Booths Open

• Time: 10 a.m.
• What: Interactive demos with vendors until 5 p.m.

Aaron Murray Appearance

• Time: 11 a.m.
• What: Until 1 p.m., the former University of Georgia quarterback will be available for meet-and-greets with customers.

Atlanta Braves World Series Trophy Tour

• Time: Noon.
• What: Take pictures with “The World Champions Trophy Tour Presented by Truist” until 4 p.m.

Peter Moylan Appearance

• Time: 1:30 p.m.
• What: Former Braves pitcher Peter Moylan will be available for a meet and greet with customers through 2:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 28

Line–Up and Win!

• Time: 9 a.m.
• What: The first 150 customers (18 and older) in line will receive a mystery gift card valued between $10 and $500.
