It was one of the biggest weekends in gospel music!

The 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards took over Atlanta and it was definitely a weekend to remember. The Stellars are the first gospel music award show in the country honoring gospel artists, writers, and industry professionals. It’s amazing to see deserving individuals “get their flowers” and the Stellars made sure to do just that. We were on hand for the taping of the 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards and we can’t wait for you to see it!

Although the awards show is the main event, the Stellars were a weekend experience. Before the show, there were tons of events for everyone to enjoy. Kicking off the weekend was a Stellar Celebrity basketball game, where some of your favorite names in gospel took the court. Then, there was a new event the Stellars added to the weekend, the Girlfriends Corner pop-up – ladies, you left feeling empowered, elevated and encouraged after hearing from special guests, such as April Daniels among many more. There were a few other events to take in such as the Stellar Master Class, based around navigating the new music industry and the Fashion Gamechangers Brunch Experience. Now that’s how you kick off the 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards weekend.

Of course, we’ve got to talk about the awards. There were tons of stars that hit the red carpet – everyone from the Legendary Bobby Jones, to Jekalyn Carr and Byron Cage. It was exciting to see the official red-carpet hosts for the Stellars, who are stars in their own right, singer and songwriter Bri Babineaux and creative director and stylist, J. Bolin. After the red carpet, you know it was showtime!

There were several big winners of the night, including Cece Winans who took home ‘Praise and Worship ALbum of the Year‘, Pastor Mike Jr. who took home ‘Artist of the Year‘ and Maverick City Music who took home ‘Song of the Year‘ for ‘Jireh‘. The show was filled with unbelievable performances including fan favorite, Marvin Sapp and one of my favorite duos – Kirk Franklin and Maverick City. Not only were there some amazing songs that were sung but you could tell the artists all wanted to put on a memorable show.

Check out more of the winners on the official Stellars Instagram page. Of course, this was just the taping, so I don’t want to put out too many spoilers before it airs, but just know it’ll be worth the watch! This year’s show will premiere Sunday, August 7 at 8 p.m. on BET, BET Her, and BET International.
