“He is fine.”
That’s the simple and direct confirmation from Willie Nelson’s longtime publicist Elaine Schock this morning when asked about a minor Twitter storm that arose after two morning hosts on Chicago radio station WLS began spreading a false rumor that the Texas country legend had died.
Nelson is currently on tour in northwestern Canada and will head down the West Coast over the next couple of weeks before dates in the eastern U.S. in September that will include the annual Farm Aid concert, this year set for KeyBank Pavilion in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 15. His next dates in Texas are Oct. 6-7 at Floore's Country Store in Helotes, just west of San Antonio.
Is it any wonder that Willie recorded a song called "Still Not Dead" on his new album? "I woke up still not dead again today/ The internet said I had passed away." Indeed.
