One of the mostly hotly anticipated Atlanta restaurant openings is coming to fruition next week.
Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar will open at Alpharetta mixed-use development Avalon April 13. The concept — which will offer a wide selection of craft beers and a meat-focused menu — was developed by Hop City owner Kraig Torres, who brought Spotted Trotter's Kevin Ouzts to helm the kitchen.
The 2,000-square-foot, two-story space will feature a dog-friendly patio, to-go window, bar seating with 64 rotating beers on tap and an open-air rooftop specializing in Belgian, German, English and other European favorites. Wines by the glass and custom cocktails will also be available.
Ouzts developed Barleygarden’s menu with pairings in mind. “We want folks to have fun and think of this as an exercise in relaxation with easy, delicious and approachable food accompanied by amazing beer,” he said in a press release.

Meats from his Kirkwood charcuterie will be featured in many of his dishes, including a charcuterie grilled cheese, the Butchers Bun which includes an 8 oz. sliced butchers steak, the Big Braut Burger and Chicken Cheddarwurst. For the health-minded, the menu will also feature salads such as the Kale & Company, Roasted Root and Spicy Sun Salad and small bites including a house-made baked pretzel, cauliflower fries, BBQ corn nuts and crispy kale chips.
Torres, who owns Hop City locations in West Midtown and at Krog Street Market, as well as one in Birmingham, said expanding to North Fulton was the next logical step.
Located at Avalon’s East wing, Barleygarden will be open 7 days a week from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
