When it comes to burning calories, I’m all about running.

It’s my ideal stress reliever — the only time of day no one can get in touch with me. The rhythm of my feet on pavement or a treadmill is somehow soothing.

Running is a great way to burn calories, but it’s not for everybody.

Experts recommend we get 30 minutes of exercise each day. And choosing how you spend that time dictates how many calories you burn in any given workout session.

To that end, Harvard Medical School has developed a nifty chart that shows how many calories walking, swimming, jogging, yoga and other activities burn in 30 minutes. Click on the chart below to explore how many calories a variety of exercises will burn.
