Chess expert and lifestyle coach Orrin Hudson uses the ancient board game to teach young people how to manage their impulsive behavior and how to use strategic thinking to reach their goals.

The Stone Mountain entrepreneur, known for his catchy mottos ("Heads up! Pants up! Grades up!"), will offer a free chess instructional class 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Stonecrest Library in Lithonia. Attendees should expect upbeat life lessons, along with a primer in chess skills. 3123 Klondike Road, Lithonia. 770-465-6445, http://www.besomeone.org/
